Don - Was just looking at your town on the map and didnt realize where it was located. I spent an extended time working at the Fortuna AF Radar just a few miles south almost right on the Canada border. Was a DOD contractor back then working on the radar sites. We stayed in Williston - Not enough quarters on the small radar site base haha... I was there about a month back then.
This was in the SEP/OCT time frame and I remember one small lake there that had the bluest water you ever saw in it. Went and stuck my hand into to and almost froze it off haha...
Just struck me how could this be and be such inviting BLUE water haha...
We drove up to the border crossing and turned around and headed back one day after work.
This was back in the 70s... I bet the small base doesn't even exist now...
