I was trying to say with bypass diodes you lose one section at a time (and I have 9) vs 1 panel at a time. It serial it depends as shade depending upon location can shut down the panel.
This is also completely opposite the assumption that serial shade shuts down the entire panel. If I had shade on 2 sections on 2 panels I'd have 7/9 the power, parallel 1/3.
I've had charging with shade on 7 sections. ie 20V vs 90V.
This can be significant with panels a few inches high next to A/C shadows which is a common RV setup, not mine however.
