seven pin plug

I have a 2000 Bounder on the Ford F-53 chassis it came prewired with a 4 wire flat plug for trailer lights. I would like to change it over to a seven pin plug. Does anyone know if there is a prewired existing plug already provided by Ford on the chassis where I could tap into? Thanks

  • Upon looking at standard trailer 7 pin connection diagram, the #7 pin is for backup lights (which is hardly used now days) the # 4 pin is the 12 positive power supply to the trailer, which charges trailer battery while traveling, if you have one.

Ditto on this they sell complete kits I've heard.

They also do How To videos.

  • You can get adapters to go from 7 at the back of the truck down to 4, but you can't make a 7 out of a 4 at the back of the truck. You have to get the work done to install a 7 if you don't have one already.

  • Pretty easy to tap into existing wiring harness to add the 6 wire plug in. Remember the 7th pin is charge line for trailer battery. So if you are not pulling a trailer with battery it will be unecessary. Do a web search for Bargman wiring diagram.
