Always leave the batteries connected. Depending on the TYPE Converter you have, it may require a battery to be connected. Regardless, having a LOAD(Battery) connected will make the Power converter operate better and MOST converters do NOT have the POWER to operate slides or Jack systems. They may work on Converter only, but you put a heavy strain on the converter. IF you have a Inverter/Charger instead of a Converter, you CANNOT disconnect the Coach batteries. They are wired DIRECT to the Inverter/Charger. Your battery disconnect system if you have one will not disconnect the batteries when you have an Inverter/Charger. An Inverter/Charger CANNOT be operated without a LOAD (Battery) connected. Doug
