The OP said in the OP he has a PD converter. Not sure if he has the Charge wizard for it. If not, he has a single voltage 13.6v converter. (or maybe that is just for Iotas ?)
It does not need a battery. But if you have a trailer you must have a battery for when towing it, so really the question for trailer RVs that are always on shore power, never off-grid camping, is all about how to keep the "towing" battery alive between trips.
