And the only other issue was that our Jack Russell terrier (Teddy) seemed fixated on "something" in the heater vents (the one in bedroom, and the one in the living area up front). He would stare into the vents and whine/bark as if he knew something was down inside the heater venting! There are no signs of any rodent problems, and we used the heater a lot so I assume anything in there would have been cooked! Is there an easy way to clean out the heater ducting just in case?
Of course this dog is known to be a bit crazy, so it may have just been his imagination, or maybe he heard sheet metal expanding/ contracting with the heat flow!
Thanks!
My Jack did something similar with my unit at first too. Then I got out a mechanics stethoscope I use on airplanes to investigate. The sheet metal was chirping from the vibration. To my Jack it probably sounded like mouse.
I loosened off all the screws I dcould find, squeezed a little silicone caulking into each joint then snugged up the screws again. Between tightening the screws and the silicone acting like a vibration damper the squeaks were gone.
The dog is still pretty loopy, but not about the ductwork at least.
