Shower Door Help Please

Our shower door has the plastic pin type door hinges that constantly needs replaced. They are known as "battleship" because they look like the pins from the game. Have any of you ever totally rebuilt your hinges? I mean used a whole new style hinge on your existing door. If so, I would appreciate information and pictures.
