We have one in our 2010 Fuzion and I'm less than impressed. It's much noisier than the Fantastic Fan we had in our Big Sky.
I took the motor out to see if there was anything to be done about the noise. I could find no replacement motor anywhere and several forums I found commented that the motors are all but impossible to find. I gave on replacing it and took it partially apart, lubed and greased it, and put it back together. It's quieter now, but still noisier than the Fantastic Fan.
Same issue with mine.. although not the fancy one. New about 1 year ago. Right out of the box it started to have problems. A dry bearing kind of chirp, intermittent in nature.. The motor would also stall sometimes when starting. I have to turn the fan a bit to make it start. It also would thermal out when the temperature was 100deg outside and the vent cover was in the sun.
I contacted Shurflow... After much discussion they sent me a new motor.
The tech there had no idea how the variable speed worked...
I reversed engineered the circuit. It used a variable DC square wave to control the speed. Nice, excellent, feature.
In the meantime I took the motor apart....I found that the front and rear bearing was needle type.
It is my understanding that if you have a fan attached and you want to run the motor CCW and CW then you need one of the bearings to be ball type to control the thrust.
The new motor I got also chirps and stalls...
I am disgusted with the fan....but use it... I am going to get a replacement ball type bearing for the front fan shaft..
A close friend has had his Shurflo fan for years... No problem no noise.
