I will add this to the discussion:
I have 3 vents on my Bigfoot roof. One has a fantastic fan. Never a problem.
The vent in the bathroom is where I wanted the Shurflo fan.
I removed the old standard vent and installed the new Shurflo fan.
As any of you know that have removed a vent on the roof for any reason is a chore!
Now that it was installed, what do you do if you have a problem?
Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz can not remove it and send it in!
And I can not remove the Shurflo vent and exchange it for a new one!
Give me the parts! NO NO NO said Shurflo.
So in my case, I trouble shot the 3 problems I had...
1. squeak/chirp
2. Intermittent stalling at low speed turning on.
3. Thermal shutdown
Squeak/chirp =Bearings
2 Intermittent stalling= motor problem
I argued with the tech.. He said bad voltage.. I said no... I have been in the electronics and mechanical engineering field for 47 years I know what I am talking about.
3. Motor thermalling out... Too hot... 100deg outside and the motor while running medium speed would shut off... Argued with the tech...
Gave up talking... The Smoked glass vent cover allows heat transfer... I measured 170deg on the motor.. The vent cover needs to be white.
So after well over a year the cat is out of the bag.
