That was a very useful ap on the Android. I have not been able to find one that is comparable for the Iphone. - Big_KatunaExplorer III use a Weboost RV cell amp. I used to mess with signal strength but what really is the proof is a speed test. There are several. We have Verizon phones and an OTR mobile hotspot on the ATT network.
I run a speed test with and without the Weboost and then compare Verizon or ATT for speed to decide what to use for streaming content. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIUI use this one on my Android. I think there is an IOS version
Does WI-Fi Cell, and also has some other neat features

- American_BoosteExplorerTo measure the signal strength,
1. For Android phones
Go to – Settings -> About phone -> Status (or Network) on this screen, view Signal Strength (or Network Type and strength)
– Settings -> More Options (or More Settings) -> About Phone -> Mobile Network On this screen, view Signal Strength
2. For iPhone (iOS11 & iOS12)
Dial ” *3001#12345#* ” > Press the call button -> Click the ‘LTE’ -> Serving Cell meas -> Check the ‘rsrp0’
3. For iPhone (Before iOS11)
– Dial ” 3001#12345#* ” -> Press the call button -> A new screen opens up. This is known as the ‘Field Test Mode.’ As it happens, you’ll notice that the signal bars have changed into a (negative) number. This is the actual signal strength of the network that your iPhone connects to. If you tap the signal strength number, it changes to bars. Tap gain, and you get the numbers. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIRegarding "Apple took that away" Reason # I don't count 'em any more why I have an ANdroid.
As for "The Signal improved but no internet could the amp be blocking smoehow"
Yes. Your phone is a multi-channel device and can be easily using 3 or more "Cnannels" at the same time.. and the amp may not process the internet channel.
OR it can cause you to flip to a different tower that is internet impaired
I've seen that several times in my Travels... Decent to strong VOICE. no data
The app I have shows if you are data connected as well as signal strength and a whole bunch of other information as well.. Some of it you need to be a Tec to use but.. IF you are calling Tec Support. THEY can use it (IE: Tower ID and so on) - pauldubExplorerSignal strength is very useful when trying to aim a directional antenna; unfortunately, Apple took that info away from us with iOS 11.

Maybe it depends on carrier, or what's going on at the tower.
Just this past week I was camping in a remote spot on Lake Superior. No bars of service without a booster. Plug in the booster, 4 bars. But the Internet was not working. Phone showed 4G connection, had an IP address, would make and receive phone calls and SMS messages, but no Internet.
Maybe the booster was blocking Internet traffic somehow, or the tower just didn't provide Internet?
Do you by any chance have Sprint? - RCMAN46Explorer

Network Signal Info (Android at least do not know if it's there for IOS)
Very good the default is the cell. it also does Wi-Fi. but it opens set to Cell.
I had the Android app on my Motorola phone worked very well. It gave signal strength and location of available cell towers.
Worked good on WIFI to determine dead areas around my home and outdoor shop.
So far have not found a good app for the Iphones.
