I wear hearing aids and the Garmin Nuvi 2856 is loud enough to hear over the Cummins in our 2001 Dodge. However it doesn't have an earphone jack. Some of the newer ones don't have one, so you might double check to make sure the one you're looking at has the earphone plug.
