Ignore the non-problem! :)
I had that same inverter and it is the same as the Honda gen for that ground business. My other MSW inverters show all three lights on when you use the three light tester. Just ignore all that, it means nothing for running 120v things in the RV.
If you have the gizmo that needs the fake bonding plug for the Honda, the inverter might not need it, but just do what it takes.
Absolutely agree NOW! I just finished some tests, first checking a couple of MSW inverters and you're right, the polarity tester lights up like a Christmas tree even though the inverters work just fine ... means nothing. Next I powered up the trailer with my EU2000i using the main service cable w/dogbone and contrary to what I "thought" was the case my Surge Guard
did power up
without a bonding plug. That surprised me as it wouldn't earlier in the spring so all I can think of is I didn't allow for the alloted Surge Guard delay of several minutes and thus assumed it wasn't ever going to turn on. :S It does though, no question about it, AND when I plug in a polarity tester I get the exact same "Open Ground" error that I get when it's plugged into the inverter's output receptacles. So ... in my case bonding isn't necessary after all with either the genset OR the inverter, everything works just fine without any additional bonding. With a Progressive EMS it may be a different story ... I guess it depends on how it's wired but at least now I have my own answer. Thanks to all who replied! :B
