Sink drain to tank connection loose and leaking

Went to hardware store. Found they did have a 1.5" connection that has a screw thread on the end ! Dry fitted it - looks good. Some I'm going to screw it in as much as possible with loads of silicon caulk around it. See if that works.

You know, sometimes just writing out the problem makes you think of different options ! So, thanks for just being there !
