Slide fit question

Was just out in tt and happened to look alongside slide and wall (with slide in) noticed at bottom where seal ends, I can see a gap where daylight is very visible. Thinking vermin could very easily get into trailer through here. This gap is present on both ends of slide.

Never really having paid attention, the slide from the outside is sealed up tightly against tt on top, but an inch or so gap on the bottom. Am I correctly assuming this is a problem? I'm thinking this gap is responsible for what I am seeing on the inside.

If in fact this is an issue, who would be the best to correct this? I do have an appointment in a few weeks at Camping World for some minor warranty issues and could have them look at/repair it, or perhaps would this be one for the manufacturer to tackle? This is a large 12 foot by 3 foot slide with king dinette and fridge in it. Not sure how "adjustable" these are without being taken out.

Thanks for any advice you can give, it concerns me seeing daylight when the trailer should seemingly be sealed tight.

sounds like it needs adjusting. When properly adjusted

    1) with the slide IN, it should seal completely on the sides and top on the outside with the "bulb" seal commonly used. Ideally it should be uniform top to bottom.
    2) with the slide OUT, the bulb seal on the inside should also seal against the trim.

In addition, slides can usually be adjusted to move the slide side to side and up and down.

with adjustment points it can usually be adjusted for tilt as well. And if one side is in/out more than the other, that can be adjusted for both the IN and OUT position.

can it be adjusted as a DIY??? looking at the instructions for mine I'd say yes if you also can visualize and understand how changing on adjustment is also going to affect the other adjustment.

with the gap your seeing, vermin aren't the only issues. WATER is the other one I'd be concerned about.

Thank you TusconJim. I will go ahead and have CW check it out since it's still under warranty.

Might want to call first and set it up....if possible....with the other items.

You have an appointment for some minor warranty issues....but you don't have slide-out adjustments scheduled.

  • They are actually quite adjustable. Beaudry RV in Tucson (now out of business) was supposed to fix mine several times, but never did it to my satisfaction. So I crawled underneath with the manufacturer's instructions in hand and did it to myself. It was actually quite simple and with a little patience you should be able to do it yourself. But if not, make sure you see if CW can do it for you.
