Slide-out awning replacement

My two slides have awnings which are in need of replacement. I was wondering if the task is very difficult and where to get the best/less expensive replacement material. Thank you.

  • So with that said, is the regular replacement awning material fine or is Sunbrella the only way to go? The ones on here have survived this long so I'm not looking for awnings which will out live the trailer.
  • It's an fairly easy job, just need a few extra hands to do it with.

    That's a nice writeup!
  • I sized mine and bought replacements on ebay. Depending on your physical ability it is very doable - not a lot of skill required, just getting up on a stepladder and the awning fabric can be a bit unwieldy.

Also, the awning stringer can be held in place with a few screws that may have rusted/oxidized in place. Good to hit them with PB Blaster (or similar) a day or so before you try and undo them.

My old awning pretty much fell apart when I took it off - the UV makes it really brittle over time.
