I found a similar trim issue on our slide years ago. The camper mfgr said that was the way it was designed and it would not be a problem.
I think they were cutting corners and decided to use some 3/4" trim they already had rather than spend what it cost for 1.5" trim to cover the edge properly. Probably saved $5.00 per unit that way.
I used dicor and sealed it until I could get a piece the proper width to cover it.
