Does the separation close itself when either retracted or extended? If so, I would NOT be worried about extensive repair problems or cost. I would install a 3/8 shim wood strip in the gap and then have someone activate the room and see what happens when the room extends and retracts. If the shim keeps the gap closed and you see or hear no other problems, leave the shim in and then use a corner trim to cover the gap/shim. Doug
