SlideOut Problems

Need help understanding an inconsistent slideout problem.

Sometimes it works as expected. Other times, it won't slide in or out (no power). Thirdly, it won't slide out (no power), but will slide in.

As I said, the problem is inconsistent. It could not be working one minute. Then when I return hours later, it could start working again or just partially working.

It doesn't seem to be consistent to whether I'm hooked in to shore power or not or whether my batteries are fully charged or not.

Thank you.
  • More than likely the in/out switch. Had to replace mine a week ago was doing the same thing. Bought the switch at local rv place $10.50.
There are different types, make sure the new one has the same amount of lugs to connect the wiring on it. As said connect the wires to the same lugs.
  • The components carry a relatively high current which is hard on contact tips in the switches and relays. It could be the switch, relays, worn motor brushes or poor connections. If you were to use a troubleshooting approach vs a parts replacing approach I would check at the motor for what you have lost. Did it lose positive to the motor or did it lose negative. You could see positive and negative at the motor yet not have amperage available because of resistance in poor connections or burned/worn contact points in the switch or relays.

Could very likely be a switch or relay
  • The in/out wall switch could have its contacts inside it broken or worn out. $29 part. Make sure you check the wiring diagram for new style switch vs old style switch on the Lippert website (if a Lippert slide)
