Anything that has a motor on it will run alot hotter if using the MSW modified sine wave envelope. It could also burn up your motor. I lost a portable 20-inch box fan using it on a MSW INVERTER. Motor burned up...
Actually I haven't found too many good uses for the MSW INVERTER. Alot of folks use them tho with no problems. The PSW INVERTERS used to be very expensive so most everyone would get the much cheaper MSW types.
The consensus is anything ELECTRONIC you should use the PSW INVERTER just to be safe and not have them go up in BLUE SMOKE...
I do have a couple of older MSW INVERTERs around but they mostly are used for incandescent lighting.
I too ran into a problem using the MR Coffee grinder for my coffee beans. I had to go to a 400WATT INVERTER to get past the initial current draw. Once it gets started it works just fine. Using a 300WATT INVERTER it was hit or miss to get it started.
For all of my 120VAC needs camping off the power grid it seems a 600WATT PSW AIM INVERTER serves me best. They cost $149 on AMAZON and have remote start.
I have one mounted under my rear seat in my truck and also one mounted in the OFF-ROAD POPUP camper to run my home entertainment items, Chargers for cellphone and computers, a couple of 10-inch AC/DC/D Cells TOO COOL fans and my WX radio. It also works well with the 120VAC LAP BLANKET the wife like to use sitting around watching HDTV when it is cool.
Well worth the few dollars extra getting the PSW VERSION. Now I never have to worry about someone plugging something into it and it goinging up in BLUE SMOKE.
In my OFF-ROAD POPUP I ran two MULTI-HEAD 120VAC RECEPTACLE extension cords from the 600WATT PSW INVERTER with one going to the Home Entertainment area and the other one going to the BEDROOM area. These are ON 24/7 even when we are at shore power hookup spots...
Nice to always have emergency 120VAC RECEPTACLEs available all the time.
