Thanks, I'll pick one up today.
RoyB pretty well summarizes why I want something more than 300W for the small coffee grinder. (And for the hand beater, probably more than 500W).
And as many have suggested, PSW means less worry and perhaps better working appliances.
Have looked around some more and don't think there's anything out there in CanadaLand (or on the internet) that would be a better deal than the Canadian Tire/Xantrex for my purposes.
And I'll be sure not to overload it. Or at least not deliberately! :)
