8 to 10 feet from batteries to the inverter ???
You are going to waste a lot of power.there is no such thing as wire that is too thick. I use TWO 1/0 wires per pole and a 150 amp ANL? Fuse on each line.
I believe they ample called ANL type fuses. They are about 3" long and 10 cost about $5.
Keep inverter to battery wires short and thick. You can double up the wires too. Keep them the same length though. (For all the wires) let the inverter to receptacle be long runs. Do not have inverter and batteries in same compartment if they are not vented.
Also the remote wire for most inverters is a standard phone cord. You can run it longer than the supplied cord if needed.
