Always size the fuse to the wire. Look for voltage drop of no more than 3% (I prefer 1% myself). Look for a T class fuse. Place the fuse as close to the battery bank as is humanly possible. Ditto for the inverter.
Doubling up wire is possible but NOT desirable.
AGM's are fine inside until they are not. If there is a catastrophic failure, they release all sorts of noxious side products such as hydrogen sulfide. You won't catch me having them inside my RV.
