You can run a 15a extension cord (light weight) back instead of hauling the (heavy) shore cord forward :)
Got one of those plug in receptacles on the side of the trailer for the shore power cord. Actually, the main issue is not the shore cord itself but the fact that the inverter will be inside trailer probably in the pass-thru. And as it's often cold and wet when we boondock, I don't want to leave the pass-thru door open, even a crack for the cable. Not to mention the mice and other varmints that would get in.
So I would have to come up with some sort of weather-tite thru-the-floor connector. A standard outdoor, covered 110V receptacle mounted under the pass-thru and exposed to the elements might work.
But if I'm going to all that trouble, why not just run a permanent 110V line to the distribution box area and use that nifty relay? No outside receptacle to worry about. Everything would be run inside or in the basement, nothing exposed.
Wouldn't that be more elegant? :)
Haven't decided one way or the other yet. Just considering the possibilities. Won't be working on this for another month anyway.
