Small "peel and stick" solar panels

I don't know if this is for real or if this product will work on the roof of an RV -- but it is interesting:

Article
  • I get concerned about putting something directly on my roof that gets that hot.
  • Good point. We will see if the manufacturer recommends these for RVs or not.

    Ditto.
All the information I've heard / read / seen says that the excess heat shortens the life of the panels.
  • How are these different than the other flexible solar panels out there, for example go power.
  • I'm aware of some folks who have successfully mounted (and kept) a solar panel mounted to their fiberglass roof with VHB tape. I do wonder how that will fare after 5 or 10 years, though. And the heat issue, of course...
  • This would work fine on an asphalt or metal roof.

Can't say I'd try it on an RV with a membrane or fiberglass roof.
  • Had a friend that used to work for a local company that makes flexible solar panels specifically for RVs. They use some sort of adhesive to mount them. No idea what they cost.
