Small, quiet, inverter.

I have a cheap 150W inverter to run a small TV and the antenna booster. Dang thing sounds like a dustbuster when the fan kicks on and drowns out the TV. Any load at all causes the fan to kick on.

Any recommendations for a small inverter that doesn't make a lot of noise?

  • We had a small 150w inverter with a fan. It wasn't constant but when it ran, oh my. We went whole house but if I had replaced it, I would have gone for the Morningstar 300w with no fan at all.
  • My GoPower 300W is very quiet. Go at least 2X wattage you need and you wont be working the inverter so hard.
  • We've been very happy with this one:

Cobra CPI 480 400-Watt(800W peak)12V DC to 120V AC Power Inverter with 5V USB Output. You can hear the fan if you're close to the unit, but barely.

You can find them on eBay for around $30 new.
  • Morningstar has a 300 watt SureSine inverter (PSW). Costs $250, but from what I've read, is worth the cost of admission. It is fanless.

150W with fan does "sound" odd ;)

I have 175W GoPower without fan, $25 on Amazon. MSW.

    Are you looking for PSW?
  • I have a Xantrex Prowatt PS inverter. It is totally silent. I think they make a 600W model.
