Snow socks -- plastic sleeves for tires? Really?

I saw an ad for this and I thought it was a hoax, but apparently not: Snow socks instead of chains Do these things really work? They say it wicks away the moisture so your tires don't slide. D...

I saw that one. According to e-trail;er, not good over 30 mph and have to be run on snow or ice. 100+ bucks is pretty expensive for a seriously limited use traction device.

I'd rather stay home and listen to the wrecks on the scanner.
