I had heard about problems with Butane before, and most was from those that had tanks refilled in the Southern states, and then headed north. You may want to talk to the locations you got propane from, they may be using butane, or a mix.
I have had the problems with Butane I got in warmer area's. It does freeze up around freezing.. However also had the problems with older hookups not working on newer tanks. Also had the water in lines and tank problem. 40 Plus years of RVing lets you learn a lot of stuff you really did not want to know.
I would replace the hoses you hook up the tanks with new ones that have the newer connection. Also the new tanks have to be turned on slow or they shut them self off. If you were sold Butane its easy to tell. The tank will be Ice covered. If you still have problems there are lots of ideas by many that have been thru it.. Check every thing. We can heat to well below 0 F.
