I used about three feet of #4 wires with mine, which was fine.
My Can Tire PSW 1000w did great for three years until I fried it earlier this year (RIP) I was using it to run a Danby 700w (1050w input required) microwave. It ran it ok several times, showing its "overload" light on the inverter's display at 1.05kw showing there, but one day it up and fried itself while doing that! Big black spot around one of the thingies on its circuit board (as seen during the autopsy). Oops!
