Soft start question

A Honda 2k should run a small window A/C

How many btus and what else is also using 120v electric
Fridge, battery charger/converter, water heater

My trouble would be lifting the 3K genny out of the truck. I'd need a lift to get it out.

Just my opinion, but if it was me I would put the $300+ into a bigger generator with more capacity. Sure, an easy start will let a smaller generator run your AC. But you never know when you may want those extra watts for some other device down the road or even for a power outage at your sticks and bricks.

I can no longer lift the weight of the larger model. A pair of smaller ones paralleled may be a possibility, but that is more expensive yet, and a lot to carry.

sell the 'Tiny' generator
combine with more $$ get the next bigger generator

the $300 soft start is a nice device, it cost more than the window A/C
IMO you are better served by putting the money into a larger genny

than putting an electronic soft start into a window A/C

but thats my opinion.. everybody has them

Same cost. You can try a Supco hard start capacitor first, they are inexpensive and work for a lot of situations.

Soft starter needs direct access to the windings on the motor, which it can't get just through the power cord. they all need to be installed internally.
