My 245W Norway/Thailand panel cost $260 last year, slightly smaller Chinese Trina was $200. The cheapest no-name were $180-190, and I believe today it would still be around $180 for that size. At this point, it's not about price. $60 spread over 20-25 years is nothing, and in this context it's hard for me to understand the worries about $40 difference btw no-name and brand-name controller.
Important question is - what you are getting. If panel doesn't have max output that I need, then I don't want it. Shipping to my site is expensive, and drilling new holes in the roof for a different panel every few years is not what I need either.
