NO twirler
i carry a motorcycle on the rear, and NO place to store inside
you forget we full time, can't be loading and unloading gear all the time
and clipping occurs when the morning has been overcast/rainy and then clears around mid day to give full sun and panels at max output, with a low SOC on the batteries
under avg conditions, charge at midday is around 18amps , spiking up when the fridge kicks on, morning charge has reduced the ampHrs needed
the xantrex, cuts off, reduces to 13.2 at about 2>4 amps barely changes when the fridge comes on, its no good for our daily use pattern
so it's a only a backup
your situation is different
maybe a different PWM controller would work for me 'maybe'
but why should i worry about it, or argue the point, when my mppt does what it should and charge all day
would i like a few more amps ? yes, but only IF the controller charges all day
