You could get the Victron gauge that *does* allow for bursts and low amp draws as it has a Peukert calculator of some kind built in.
My problem is the opposite of yours. I often draw large numbers of amps, with a base load of 30 amps.
I agree capacity is a moving target--with a great number of factors, temperature, age and number of cycles. I believe Mena found he had a few extra amp hours to play with after a few cycles. My bank is now between 4 (bank of 3) and 8 (bank of four) years old. I still have no capacity worries.
