After looking into inline fuses-kinda-breakers, for 70V input and 40A output (2*250W in series), I installed Midnite Solar Baby Box with MNEPV DC Din rail breakers, in the front pass-through storage of my trailer.

Box has 4 slots for breakers and enough room for 2 insulated mini-busses. All available at Midnite or AZ Windsun. 150V rating.

Baby is smaller than it looks on the photo - 3*3*7", though could be an overkill for a small system or a small rig.
