Thanks for the replies.... I'm pretty handy with projects. Between house and boat projects I can do most everything. Probably like to start with 1 x 130 or 140 watt panel that I could add on to. Still have to learn more on the controllers so I don't over or under buy...... Rv used to have solar cause the old brackets are up there. I just haven't traced them to see where they were run. So it looks like more research and planning and DIY project..... But if there is anybody in the Spokane area that reads this please email or message me if you want a TSP meet up at my RV in mid may.
Old brackets in place? Measure that and try to buy panels that fit.- HermesExplorerWhatever you do, whether have someone install or you do it yourself, you should read the two links below. These two guys know solar and RV electrical very well and offer the best reading material and recommendations, including for installations.

Don't want to generalize, but most installers need to be watched closely during the installation to make sure that a) they are following your design, and b) they are using the hardware and materials (not to mention the components) that you would've used. Which of course requires you to do your own research and planning first. There is often more than one way to skin this cat with similar final results, different options for location and choice of batteries, controller, wire routing, brackets design. So they might do it differently from how you would, but still well. Or they might not do it well at all. The job on a single 130W panel is simple, would be difficult to screw it up, though possible. IMO, hiring somebody is only advisable if you can't or don't want to do this yourself for some reason. But I am cheap so take this with a usual grain of salt.
- SimplygibExplorerYou might give this guy a call. Not sure if he does RVs but could be worth a shot. He's got a good review on Yelp, although it isn't related to a solar issue. If he can't help you out maybe he can refer someone.
Edit - just saw your post above. If you're handy as you say I'd encourage you to do it yourself. Much cheaper, and it's really not a difficult job. If interested, take a look at my 9-page solar blog for the basics. If you have specific questions I'd be glad to help - just pm me. - spencerusviExplorerThanks for the replies.... - KJINTFExplorer150 miles over the hills to the east I know a guy that can help you
However yes you can do it yourself and save some money
You will need to know exactly what it is you want before you start project
Some thoughts as to what you might want

Just believe that there is lots a money to be saved if you purchase the panels and controller yourself, even if you get help w/ the install.
. - donn0128Explorer IIPretty much a DIY project. The hard part is getting the new panels up on the roof. Then, in Order, where to run the wires, locate the controller and where to place the panel.
