I contacted Morningstar because the manual was not clear of powering the controller on and off. The response indicated that they had "recently discovered" that disconnecting the battery while charging could damage the hardware. In addition the online manual was recently updated.
Indeed the current online manual MS-000946 v05.2 has a new Power-Down section. I'm concerned about this because there are several reasons why the battery power could be disconnected while charging.
