Thanks for all of the comments. I’ve checked the solar panel mountings and was surprised to find that there is vertical movement on some of the mounts on the roof. I didn’t have a method of checking that until the panels were mounted. So now I’m working on a plan for better securing the panels. Lesson learned.
With regard to the vertical flat strap risers that I used they are 1 1/2 x 1/8 aluminum and were tested for flexing the 6” length in a vice. They are very stiff and angled aluminum would be even stiffer but I’m not planning on changing them.
The rig has been driven 400 miles at highway speeds with the panels and no ill effects. But we were also not driving in those 83 MPH Tehachapi winds!
