Of course the panels were pointed south and the winds were coming from the west.
Also, this is why I wear myself out sharing, to others, on this forum the travails in Large Solar Panels. Large Panels are like a Large Sail on a Sailboat. Often when one realizes the wind has come up/increases, it is too late to crawl up on the roof to lower them. You become a hazard of turning into a Kite, as much as your just released solar panels become an out of control battering ram.
I witnessed my own panels bowing like a pillow when capturing the wind of a Dust Storm traveling through Death Valley. Some of us travel into areas of wind events and should always consider these events when they are selecting the size of their solar panels. The biggest cheapest Solar Panel should not be your only consideration.
