Additional Comments and Information:
On 3/3/15 I recorded 45A on a clear day at noon in the Phoenix area and hence would expect slightly more during the summer. 750W serial flat mount (4 degrees). To date I’ve collected data that involved shade which is encouraging for serial connections and bypass diodes but there are always additional shade collection opportunities. The 2 data collections are:
Storage shadows and bypass diodes and Solar Panels, Leafy Shadows and Bypass Diodes
Morningstar recommends connecting the panels to the controller after the battery is connected and disconnecting them before the battery is disconnected and I’ve added appropriate signs and both a battery and panel switch. I’ve added a 1’ serial to USB cable that will be used to updated the firmware. A prior crossover LAN cable to the inside of the rig allows for direct PC connection. I also experimented with a router which allows a WiFi connection and is available as needed. Some of my initial data indicates that the MPPT60 is very efficient with my 91V Voc and 12V battery. But I need to do some additional measurements. Any effect on my mileage due to the panels cannot be measured. I average 8.0MPH.
