The MPPT45 does not have the LAN port which I prefer to just the serial port. And I can add a 4th panel and be on the verge of over paneling which the MPPT60 handles. While the MPPT60 cost was $100 higher, $1500 vs $1400 just seemed like the right decision.
The LAN port does give me the WiFi capability which I've used with the laptop outside monitoring parameters. While I don't have a need to monitor controller alerts that's a plus for those that want that capability. I also carry a 100' LAN cable if needed.
During my pre planning I devised a plan for hard and soft roof top shade tests to test the bypass diode operation. But that is off of my radar. Instead I've already posted 2 real world field tests involving shadows. Those tests and the controller variables which can be collected every second are real world field tests that allready show the advantages of serial panels and bypass diodes for my setup. Different shade conditions this summer??? Whatever the results I'll post.
