There is no correct answer, my class B has solar and as long as the sun is out every other day and not in the shade, I only need the gen to run the microwave or AC, geting things hot or cooling with solar requires a larger battery bank than I have room for. With Toyhauler I run a Honda for about 2 hours most days, back when I set it up solar was expwnsive, I went with 4 gc batteries and a generators. For a web site that discuses total solar RV living google "Handy Bob solar". As far as using the truck alternator uprade to heavier wire to minimixe the volage drop to the camper battery.
