Maybe if someone were to explain what their use really is, one could weigh in how that meets their own use/uses.
I'm a weekender and typically do 3-4 day boondocking trips. All on battery. No recharging until I get home and only use the generator to run the convection oven and I'm working on not having to do that too (ie run that on battery/inverter). Even if I lost a battery (I have 4), I could still finish my camping trip without a drastic loss in comfort. Since the OP is only doing 3-4 day boondock trips and apparently on shore power mostly, IMO, he doesn't solar or a generator. Just get 4 batteries and call it a day. Watch TV? Charge phones/tablets? Get a small inverter. IMO, no need to drag around gas cans, buy 3 of everything, or spend money on solar. He's not going the African Savannah, he's just doing some occasional off grid camping.
