I think you may need to rethink your budget or your plan. $1400 would hardly cover a 2000 watt Honda/Yamaha gen, monitor, two GC's, and a new converter. $1400 would cover a nice 500 watt solar system, 4 GC's, and controller; but no backup.
Rather than try to spread your budget over two systems, I would pick one and go all in on it for now. I would also include converting to LED bulbs any light that will be used more than a couple of minutes a day (the only standard bulb we have left is in the frig).
My first upgraded was 2 GC's and LED bulbs, then a new converter and monitoring, and then 2000 watt Honda gen. Then added 220 watts solar later. If I were to do it again, I'd have gone with 300 watts solar, 2 GC's, LED lights, new converter and a 1000 watt Honda/Yamaha gen.
We like the federal parks and forests, which seldom have electric. DW and I are very careful with electric use, and unless we use the heater can go a week on a fully charged battery.
