That's exactly why we have both a built-in generator and a small portable generator on our RV trips.
The 4000 watt built-in generator is for air conditioning anytime, anywhere and a very quiet 650 watt Honda portable generator is for battery charging anytime, anywhere. We also carry an excellent 12 volt high-volume low-current fan for comfort in moderate weather. We don't want to have to pick our RV'ing location or time of year based on how we have our RV equipped. U.S. weather is (getting) too unpredictable to rely solely on the sun or main engine alternator between-campsite runs for camping electricity needs.
If we had solar, it would via portable solar panels so we could keep them in the sun with the RV in the shade.
