No generator is silent, I could hear the EU3000 and MH generators on our last trip. They were not as loud as my Champion 3500/4000 but I could hear the low hum inside and out. Even the open frame across the lake had about the same impact, I'm just glad I wasn't in that CG.
My solar may not run my AC but it sure does help. At 9-10,000 ft our old Champ can barely start and run the AC while charging the batteries too. It took letting the batteries charge for a while, then starting the fan and finally the compressor hoping it would catch and not overload the champ. When it did catch, it was running balls to the wall and going through gas like there was no tomorrow. I don't think it was good for either the AC or the generator.
Now that the solar does the charging and the converter is off, the generator starts the AC without so much as a burp and drinks much less gas too.
