I already have a couple hundred watts, (2 panels ) but if I was just starting, my question would be, "are there any bad panels out there?"
My 2 no name panels came from ebay, about $1.40 per watt shipped to my door. Both have a 25 yr warranty. Both seem to be very well built. I was strictly after price when buying, and now after playing w/ solar for 6 months, I can't find anything wrong w/ them, except they don't work all that great on our many overcast days :)
I bought 3 ebay controllers for $10-$12 each. which all work great, but I dint like the display on the first one, so I bought the 2nd which I liked, then bought a spare like it, just in case. There is no reason to spend any more on a controller, unless you are a battery fanatic, or you are into hi voltage panels.
