The diode separation idea is fine, but in real life, shade goes across sections, so the diodes have less effect.
Where I was, eg, I got more amps to battery in parallel than in series, even though the panels have diodes.
That was "real shade" from something nearby blocking the sun, not "shade" like being under a shade tree, where there is still lots of light all over the panels.
