Solar panels wire to controller: Length of wire?

Well I got lucky and there was a break in the storm. At the panel the voltage was bouncing between 21.35 and 22 volts. At the controller it was bouncing between 21.35 to 21.95. The battery that it was plugged into was mostly charged but was seeing 14.3v from the controller. With the factory wiring I dont remember ever seeing above 13.99v. So I am really happy about this. 50ft should be more than enough for me to get away from the shade of the trees.
