If you get 17 amps from one panel into the battery I would get 20 amps per panel you plan to run.
Three panels 60 amps MPPT. You could leave what you have and have a second (or third) controller for the additional panels.
Most MPPT will not burn up if you overdrive them. Amps just get limited to the rating. They just clip power production during that time and it will not be much unless your battery is very low and the clouds suddenly disappear at solar noon.
