Do not mount the controller in the same compartment as the battery bank. When the controller cycles some controllers create a spark. Spark in a 17% hydrogen to air mix and things might go boom.
Corrosion is a potential issue, too.
Do get a controller that is big enough to allow for growth. It was the one mistake I made with the solar design. I can't get more panels without a new larger controller.
