I have been readings articles about this, and yes poly are cheaper because they are cheaper to manufacture, and they are slightly less efficient per cell. They also tend to have a slightly shorter lifespan. But a 140w panel is still a 140w panel, regardless. The difference is the overall space they require to achieve that 140w.
As for monos performing better in low light conditions, this seems to contradict the reports here; that polys perform better in light cloud cover. Perhaps the confusion is a result of comparing individual cells with complete panels? Apparently, panels are less efficient than the individual cells themselves?
